Travel, birds and backyards

Hello! Welcome back; I got busy with life after my last post, and I’m just now really starting to dig out a bit.

In the time since I last posted, I have been to Seattle, and I’ve taken up a couple new hobbies. First, let’s talk about Seattle.

This was a working trip for Chris, and I tagged along. I would love to do that more often, but right now with plane tickets so expensive, I am opting out of some trips. The Seattle trip, however, was planned prior to the sudden increase in fuel prices. I enjoyed it a great deal, and we had some really nice weather, with only one truly rainy day. While Chris worked, I did some sightseeing.

I had so much fun, and this is nowhere near the full portfolio of photos I took. I think I took about 600 photos total, and I could have taken so many more, but I didn’t want to overload while I was there. It was a lot of fun!

Of course, that awoke the photographer in me. I started shooting when I was fresh out of high school, literally. I think I bought my first “real” camera, a Pentax K1000, with the money I received from people for my high school graduation. That purchase launched one of my favorite pastimes, and I have about 60,000 total photos to prove it.

It also made me realize that I need to be shooting photos a lot more often, so I came back from Seattle and started to set up a little “bird sanctuary,” if you will, in the backyard. I am finally starting to see some birds in the yard, and I have a pair of Mourning Doves that have built a nest on the fence.

Of course, now I have two new hobbies – gardening and bird watching. I’ll share more about the bird studio in my next post.

And that’s about it. I got busy, I had to handle some personal medical stuff, and I am building a bird sanctuary in the backyard. 😂

What have you been up to? Anything interesting?
